Pour Over Brewing Guide

Pour over, or hand brew, is a simple and easy way to brew a good cup of coffee. With hand brewing, you achieve the coffee's full potential with a very clean and clear taste experience where you can really taste the coffee's notes.

In Original Coffee we use a funnel and filters from Espro Bloom as well serving jug from Kinto to make hand brew.

This recipe brews 250 grams of coffee.

  1. Boil 300 grams of water. Let the water stand for a few minutes so the temperature can drop to 92 - 95°C.
  2. Put a filter in the brewing funnel and place on top of the server. Pour a good splash of water into the bottom of the filter and into the server.
  3. Weigh out 17 grams of coffee and grind it medium coarse.
  4. Empty the server of water and place the server and brewing funnel with filter on a scale.
  5. Pour the coffee into the brewing funnel. Shake the funnel lightly to distribute the coffee evenly.
  6. Reset your weight and pour 50 grams of water over the coffee in about 10 seconds. This is done in a calm, circular motion, so you are sure that all the coffee is hit by the water.
  7. Wait 30 seconds.
  8. Pour the last 200 grams of water over the coffee in about 1 minute.
  9. Let the coffee drip through. The optimal brewing time is between 1:45 – 2:00 minutes.
  10. Bon appetite.
