MORE ABOUT APONTE

At Original Coffee, we offer our guests two espressos; our Traditional Espresso and what we call our light espresso. We change our light espresso about every six months, depending on how it fits with the harvest seasons around the world. We also offer our light bean as a filter coffee.

Aponte and comes from Tablon de Gomez – a municipality in Nariño, Colombia that is now well-known among coffee roasters around the world. The coffee is made from Caturra beans harvested from approximately 200 small farms in the Aponte reserve area.

The beans are processed using the Honey method, also called pulped natural.

The beans are depulped, leaving only a thin layer of pulp on the coffee berries. The beans are then dried with this layer of pulp intact. During drying, they are turned constantly to avoid over-fermentation or rotting. Eventually, the beans take on an appearance reminiscent of candied nuts.
